PSG: Ligue 1 won’t be easy for you – Fabregas warns Lionel Messi
Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder, Cesc Fabregas has warned newly signed Paris Saint-Germain star, Lionel Messi that the Argentine should expect a difficult time in Ligue 1.
The former Spain International said the 34-year-old will be surprised by the difficulty of Ligue 1.
Messi has signed a two-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday after the Catalan giants announced they could no longer pay his bills.
People in Paris and the owners of the Ligue 1 giants are hoping that the Argentine superstar’s arrival will end the club’s decade-long pursuit of Champions League glory.
However, Fabregas, who has known Messi since their time together in Barcelona, said the Argentine will be surprised by the difficulty of Ligue 1.
“Everyone sees it [Ligue 1] as a one-team league, but in the last five years Monaco and Lille have put a break in it,’ said Fabregas.
“It’s not as easy as people think. It’s very intense, very aggressive, very fast and strong players. They (the teams) defend very well.
“[The league] is already physical, aggressive players in a good way, they defend very well.
“In attack, they are not very talented but they’re improving. New foreign, modern coaches are coming in and it’s a league that’s going up with the generation of coaches and players.”
Messi was unveiled at PSG on Tuesday after an emotional departure from Barcelona and will now wear jersey No.30 at the club.
