Sergio Romero Finally Finds A New Club Four Months After Leaving United

The Argentine was released by the Premier League giants after six mixed seasons at the club.

During his peak at United, Romero won the Europa League as the starting goalkeeper under Jose Mourinho. While the lowest point of his time in England came under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as he didn’t get a single minute of playing time during the 2020/21 season.

However, Solskjaer wasn’t left with any other option, to be fair, after the return of Dean Henderson from Sheffield United.

The current goalkeeping situation could also see one more shot-stopper exit next summer, as both De Gea, who’s the current first choice, and Henderson won’t settle for a second fiddle role.

Meanwhile, for Romero, this will be his second spell in Italy, having played for Sampdoria before Louis van Gaal brought him to Old Trafford.

Newly promoted Venezia, who sit just a point above the relegation zone, will look to make the best use of Argentina’s all-time most-capped goalkeeper’s experience to maintain their Serie A status.

The 34-year-old has been signed on a deal until the end of the season, but a survival in Italy’s first-tier for Paolo Zanetti’s side could see his stay extended at the Stadio Pierluigi Penzo.
