Man Utd Working On Two More Deals As They Continue To Back Solskjaer

Man Utd are set to back Ole Gunnar Solskjaer by extending Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna’s contract.

The gaffer extended his contract – which was set to expire at the end of this season – earlier this year. Solskjaer’s current deal expires in 2024. United then followed that up by extending Mike Phelan’s deal as well.

Phelan’s contract extension was a sign of things to come as it seemed like the club’s way of expressing their faith in the Norwegian. Now with Carrick and McKenna also set to receive extensions, the Red Devils are making something clear – they trust the current structure in place at the club.

According to MEN, the pair will be handed a 3-year contract meaning the former Cardiff City boss and all of his coaches are set to stay at Old Trafford potentially till 2024.

Moreover, the duo have worked closely with the boss throughout his tenure and knows the squad inside out. This ensures continuity and coherence in training, as a shift in personnel would mean a change of setup.

Meanwhile, the last couple performances of Solskjaer’s side made it seem as if he was under pressure yet again. But the club’s current plans make it apparent that they have long-term plans for the former United man. And if that wasn’t obvious enough, the Mancunians have invested financially in terms of the transfer market as well with big names like Jadon Sancho, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane.

All this points to one conclusion – the 48-year-old is here to stay, at least for now. The Old Trafford outfit trust him to fulfill his role and will continue to do so unless things take a turn for the worst.
