Heavily Battered PSG Gets Old Trafford Mouse Silent

On Tuesday evening thanks to goals from Presnel Kimpembe and Kylian Mbappé, the French superpower achieved a nice victory over Manchester United: 0-2. PSG had traveled to England without Edinson Cavani and Neymar, but that did not matter to Thomas Tuchel’s team. For Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it meant his first loss as manager of United, which hopes to repair the damage in the return in Paris in three weeks, but will have to make it without Paul Pogba: the midfielder got red in the final stages.
PSG had traveled to Old Trafford because of injuries without, among others, Cavani, Neymar and Thomas Meunier, but after six minutes of playing football, the first possibility of the game came true: Ángel Di María fired right after Marco Verratti’s preparatory work. Shortly after, Marcus Rashford shot across the fists of Gianluigi Buffon. PSG was, in attacking, largely dependent on Mbappé. The French superstar was dangerous for the first time after half an hour.
Mbappé was stabbed behind the defense of United by Julian Draxler, but was left alone by David de Gea. In addition, he seemed to be sidelined sideways, which could possibly have been corrected by the video referee (VAR), who played for the first time in the Champions League. The first half did not yield any major opportunities anymore. However, referee Daniele Orsato showed a yellow card five times; Ashley Young seemed to have escaped his second at the stroke of rest after unsportsmanlike behavior towards Di María.
